With the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the importance of cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence technologies, which lie at the core of the modern digital industry, has been on the rise. Furthermore, social interest in digital healthcare, or the medical technology based integrated fields, has also been growing. Large amount of health information is being accumulated through IOT-based wearables, and the development of big data system and medical A.I. technology for data collection, analysis, application, and management of medical information generated through medical institution systems, medical images, and individual genetic information has become all the more necessary for the advanced development of medicine.
Wearable devices, which are instrumental to the development of Digital Healthcare, can be attached to the body in the form of a patch to collect and monitor continuous biometric information.
For actual developments in Digital Healthcare to take place, both the amount and quality of the data collected are important. Furthermore, for the development of digital healthcare, the big data and A.I. platforms need to transcend the current level of collection, storage, management, and analysis of medical data to extraction/analysis of meaningful value from large amounts of structured/unstructured data.
Yonsei University has established the Department of Integrated Medicine,Major in Digital Healthcare in order to implement precise customized medicine and to lead the future medicine through integrated medicine. Yonsei University’s Department of Integrated Medicine, Major in Digital Healthcare will research agendas such as medical data statistics, data science and video processing, wearable software, embedded systems, artificial intelligence and smart hospitals, medical robots, and will devote the best effort to foster specialists with practical skills and global competitiveness needed by businesses, based on development trends of Korea’s health policies and the global medical industry.
Thank you,
